Member Spotlight: Epilepsy Action NI

Brain Awareness Week 2024

During Brain Awareness Week 2024, we will be highlighting some of our fantastic member organisations.

Today we are highlighting Epilepsy Action NI.

What is Epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain, causing repeated seizures. An epileptic seizure occurs when there is a sudden burst of intense electrical activity in the brain.

Who are Epilepsy Action?

Epilepsy Action provides information, advice and support on living with epilepsy. Our Epilepsy Helpline and on-line support are one-to-one services that people with epilepsy and those who care for them have called a lifeline. At the same time, local branches and events support people in their own communities. Epilepsy can be an isolating condition, so this support network for people with epilepsy, carers and families, can make all the difference.

What support does Epilepsy Action provide?

Epilepsy Action Northern Ireland provides:

  • In person and online support groups where people with epilepsy can connect with others in a safe and relaxed environment

  • Online and telephone counselling to adults living with epilepsy, parents and carers

  • Family support service providing information and support

  • Local information and social events

Epilepsy Action NI also raises awareness and increases understanding of the condition and campaigns for a better future for people with epilepsy.
